Traffic Controlling Unit

The first school traffic controlling unit the southern province was organized by the scouts of mahinda. Gradually it has grown up to be a disciplined and a useful organization at school. At all school functions and just before and after school the traffic controllers do an immense service. They control traffic, pull up errant drivers and help the pedestrians, children and adults to use the roads in safety.
In 1996 the scouts and the traffic controlling unit organized a training camp, but with the transfer of Mr.Dhanapala the two units came under two teachers .Mr.harsha weerasinghe is now in charge of the traffic controllers.
In 1998 with the assistance of Galle police we held a training camp at waruramba. In 2003 we got certificate form srilanka police traffic section for our grate service. In 2005 we participated to traffic controllers’ camp in Rhichmond college .This year our membership has risen to 25 juniors and 10 seniors. They continued their good work maintaining a strict control of traffic just before and after school. It is our effort to help both drivers and pedestrians who respect the road rules road rules of the country. We have five rank steps. They are
