Mr.Albert Edirisinghe was born in 1913 in Baddegama Ganegama and kicked off his educational journey at the village Buddhist School before moving on to Mahinda College in 1925, where he wrapped up his studies in 1933. With a little nudge from Mahinda, he ventured into the world of business and made quite a name for himself in Sri Lanka. Eventually, he settled down under the name Ven.Ganegama Siri Devamiththa.

His son, who sadly passed away a few years back, was a proud alumnus of Royal College, Colombo. To honor their shared legacy, a fantastic football match has been organized between the two schools they attended. This grand event, is taking place in 2025 for the 24th year.

The previous match, was held at the Royal College Sports Complex in Colombo, where the Mahinda College team triumphed over the Royals with a score of 2-0 and it was led by Ravindu Lochana.

The captaincy has been entrusted to Sajitha Thalgasduwa in this year(2025), who leads a team featuring seven players with color awards.

We, Mahinda College would like to honor all the coaches, especially Mr.Nishantha Akmeemana, a member of the 89th Group, who has dedicated an impressive 31 years as our college's football coach, along with the Old Football Association, the Junior Old Boys' Association, and all the other coaches involved.
