The National Schools Swimming Championships 2025 was successfully held at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool on August 2025. Over 225 schools from across the island participated in the event, with more than 1,100 teams of athletes showed their skills competing for gold, silver and bronze medals.
In this competition, Mahinda College’s W. Danujith Yashintha did a great job for his team and set a record that will go down in history.
● He won first place in the Under-14 (Under-14) 50m Breaststroke event with a time of 33:76 seconds, writing a new record in his name.
● He also completely dominated the Under-14 100m Breaststroke event, winning another gold medal and a new record with a time of 1:15.68, confirming himself as one of the best athletes of the competition.
● Furthermore, he advanced to 3rd place in the 100m Freestyle.
In addition, Yashintha won 2 gold medals and a silver medal in the 50th All-Ceylon School Aquatics Championships held this year, and was the greatest athlete produced by the Southern Province at the 49th National Games.
This success is a great achievement for Mahinda College, and it is certain that he will become a leading young star in Sri Lankan swimming in the future.
