In one of Sri Lanka’s most anticipated literary events, the 32nd Gratiaen Prize was awarded to Savin Edirisinghe, distinguish Mahindian, for his book Kata Katha: Gossip, Rumours, and Idle Talk on May 31. Mr.Albert Edirisinghe was born in 1913 in Baddegama Ganegama and kicked off his educational journey at the village Buddhist School before moving on to Mahinda College in 1925, where he wrapped up his studies in 1933. With a little nudge from Mahinda, he ventured into the world of business and made quite a name for himself in Sri Lanka. Eventually, he settled down under the name Ven.Ganegama Siri Devamiththa.

In a stunning display of skill and determination, Senuka Dangamuwa propelled Mahinda College to victory in the U19 Division 1 - Tier B Semi-Final with an extraordinary knock of 200 runs off just 153 balls.
